I spent much of last night awake with the pain from my sciatica and the associated worry - I suffer from health anxiety and as such think that every ailment I have will be the death of me!! That in itself is exhausting but my back/hip/leg has been so painful - I will confess here that I think I have a pretty low pain threshold - also known as Being A Bit Of A Wuss.
The pain settled mostly in my calf accompanied by flutterings, twitching and numb toes and I just couldn't get comfortable despite a horse shaped hot water bottle and an assortment of strong painkillers. So I hardly slept.
The result of the pain, lack of sleep and painkillers meant I have been shattered all day so have spent it in my Cath Kidston rose covered bed, sleeping and this afternoon watching "The Ten Commandments" with Charlton Heston.
I do love an old movie - unfortunately, I fell asleep just as Moses was persuading the pharaoh to release his people and awoke for the end credits!!
So because of all this I haven't spent any time today in one of my favourite places, the conservatory sofa (well, I can't leave you without a photo of some sort!!):

Oh love, sounds right miserable. I do feel for you. Physical pain is so vile. I am so glad your boys were at school so you could take to your bed and rest.
ReplyDeleteI hope you pick up over the next few days.
Thanks for the comment over at mine, your conservtory is far lusher than mine! Still need to buy a flower garland similar to yours to wrap around the poles! Must sort.
Loads of love

ReplyDeleteOh poor you, you've got the right idea - pretty duvets, cups of tea and plenty of rest. Get someone to bring cake for you too - cures everything.
ReplyDeleteHope you're feeling better soon.
Love your conservatory sofa.... too many pretty things - I'm about to start crocheting some pretty pot holders like the one on your coffee table, I love them. Your sofa just needs a big cuddly blanket on and it could be your new resting place whilst you recuperate!

(And btw I always love getting comments on my blog and I like the !!! exclamation marks too!! It's just when I type lots of them myself that I get annoyed - ha! I'm bonkers... anyhow, lots of love)
Sciatica is such a horrible, horrible thing. People who've never had it can't imagine the pain it causes. I finally went to a chiropractor last year who ordered a spine x-ray. It turned out that one leg was a full inch longer than the other. Now I'm wearing a lift in my sneaker and the sciatica is sooo much better.
ReplyDeletePerhaps a spinal x-ray might be the way to go?
*Hugs*, I hope you feel better soon.
See that round cushion on the left? Tell me it's a crochet one. I love it. Where might I find the pattern?
ReplyDeleteNow then missy. What's with all this horrid sciatica? Not good at all. You poor duck. I don't know much about these things but re you taking an anti inflammatory for it? And if you are and are getting heartburn or indigestion then tell your doc as strong anti inflammatories can upset your tummy in no time.
I hope you get better soon, though if I were you I'd string it out a bit longer so I could stay in a rose print bed. I don't like our bedroom. I yearn for floral linen but the husb is anti chintz. Grrrrrrr. But I am winning the fight lately by saying "I am the only girl here, I will never get to watch what I want on TV, I will never have ponytails to plait, so I will have floral in my home!!!!"

Oh poor you! You're really going through it at the moment. Sending HUGS and hoping you find something that helps.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your sofa! It just looks so inviting.
And is that a parrot I spy next to it? I love birds, but I have a budgie who delights in throwing his seed and feathers as far round the room as he can!
